HCC Christmas Party 2009
What a fun time seeing everyone at the Christmas Party! About 30 folks attended, with lunch at Little Ricci's near Smoky and Jan's place (thanks to Jan for organizing the day's events), and then some great partying at their house. The White Elephant gift exchange was one of the best. It is amazing how much fun can be hand when we all get together! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

George Jackson Memorial Ride
A nice turnout today for the Ride to the Wet Mountain Wildlife Rehabilitation Center near Wetmore in Memory of George Jackson. This was George's favorite non-profit and George is scattered on the ridge just above the center.
Despite it being a nasty looking morning, the clouds/fog burned off as we approached Penrose and it was a beautiful day at the wildlife center. Sledge, Skip, Toich, Valkster, Larry/Dee, Eddie/Cheri, Shades/Beverly, and MarkT/June (good to see them again). After visiting the center and a moment of silence for George we headed home towards dark clouds.

HCC Eddie Clark Memorial Rally Photos
Members that attended this year's event were Raymond & Gayle, Steve, Gary, Sledge & Robin, Dave, Charles and Eddie & Cheri. We enjoyed 4 great days of riding. Most rain held off till the evenings or overnight. A meeting was held and raised $36 for the Wet Mountain Wildlife fund. Eddie was voted in for another term as director. We discussed this year's low turn out and how to get club participation back up.

A Fun Time at the Hangin' at Dave's
Another fun HCC day at the Hangin' at Dave's -- the weather cooperated with only a few sprinkles in the afternoon and it was beautiful in Woodland Park. About 20 or so folks -- good friends, good stories, good times! Nick's younger brother Ben rode up with their Dad -- check out the photos of him comparing the V-Rod, the FJR, and the Ducati -- the kid was smiling big time!!

Mt. Evans on a Beautiful Day
Only three folks on the Mt. Evans Ride (Colin, Lynette, & Whooray), but wow, what a beautiful day. They had to wait at Summit Lake for a while until the snowplow did a little work on a few spots -- then they were the first up the road (nice!). Valkster had a meeting in Empire and decided to do Mt. Evans on the way home -- met the HCC folks right at the intersection of Mt. Evans Rd and 103 (good timing). Valkster had lunch above timerline and it was beautiful. A little fresh snow around and lots of people -- but not at his lunch spot. First 9 photos are Whooray's and the others are Valkster's.

From the castle, we continued south through Rye, then up I25 to Pueblo. Rob split off to go through Cripple Creek and Deckers, to get home to Evergreen. The rest of us took I-25 for the quickest way home. The group rode very well together. All are good riders, very enjoyable. Images and ride report provided by Steve Quiat.

Black Hills Overnighter 2009
The Black Hills is always a great trip and this year it was particularly beautiful and green due to the heavy moisture this past Winter and Spring -- and temps were in the 60s & 70s most of the time. 5-7 bikes on most of the trip: Valkster, Nick, Torch/Sylvia, Butcher/Shorty, Shades/Beverly, Kirk, and Brooks (friend of Kirk's).
Some great riding and sightseeing included: Spearfish Canyon, Devils Tower, Deadwood, Sturgis, Vanacker Canyon, Nemo Road, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Hwy, Wildlife Loop, Iron Mountain Rd, and some great pie from the Purple Pie place in Custer (yum, yum).

Tetons and Yellowstone
The HCC had such a great trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone in 2006 that we decided to make this trip once again. BOSS planned the Dubois and Tetons portion and Valkster planned the continuation to Beartooth Pass and the Snowy Range. 13 bikes and 21 people for at least some portion of the trip -- a fun group of folks and a great time seeing some beautiful country. A few sprinkles/drizzle the morning of day 1, but clear blue skies and great weather after that. It sure was a fun time!

Leadville Loop
From Morrison Roy/Heidi on the Wing, Smoky on the Tourer, Terry (had been a long time for sure) on his ST, Valkster on his FJR, and Bucky on her Shadow. After dropping down to Idaho Springs, Bucky broke off for home as she just wanted a short ride for today. At that point the rest of us decided that it should be a "Leadville" vs "Breckenridge" ride today. Over Fremont Pass with little traffic and a very good lunch at the Golden Burro in Leadville. South to BV and then up to the top of Cottonwood Pass. Terry was out for a 2-day trip so at the top of Cottonwood he decided to head on west on the dirt section -- if bad he'd turn around. If not, on the Crested Butte. We're down to three bikes now and had a great ride back down to BV. Gas and a little IC sandwich, then towards home across South Park. Valkster broke from Roy/Heidi and Smoky at Antero Junction and had a nice, brisk ride across South Park and on to Florissant.

Last Ride
With the great weather we've been having, several of us rode from Denver down to Colorado Springs via C-105. After taking a short break along at the Pikes Peak overlook along I-25, where we met up with Valkster. We went over to the Garden of Gods overlook for a quick photo and then on to the Keg in Manitou Springs for lunch. We then came back to Denver via C-83.

Toy Run
What a great Colorado December day and how heartwarming to be involved in such a great event. We had a good group of members and friends attend with nearly 20 people having lunch afterwards at the Breckenridge Brewery. Looks like the event set a Guiness World Record for the largest escorting motorcycle ride of nearly 2700 bikes.

What a wonderful (and long) day was had! Many thanks to George for setting up a stop at the Wet Mountain Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Everyone really enjoyed seeing the wild animals being cared for by a wonderful couple. Then it was on to Bishop Castle for some lunch and enlightenment from Jim Bishop. Then the long way home through Westcliffe, Hi-way 50 to Hi-way 9 to Woodland Park to 67 through Deckers then home.

We had a great turn out for the Rally in Montrose. Unofficial count was approximately 38 bikes and 65 people. A great time was had by all getting together with old friends and making many new ones. Smokey refined his skills scooping ice cream and Darrel kept everyone laughing any time he was around. Hope we see many of you again next year!
